Ciruelos del Pinar
Village
Ciruelos del Pinar is a municipality in the comarca of Señorío de Molina, in the province of Guadalajara, with 23 inhabitants, situated among pine woods, holm-oak groves and dehesa, near Luzón, Mazarete and Maranchón. The village was granted in 1234 by the archbishop of Toledo Rodrigo Jiménez de Rada to the Cistercian monastery of Buenafuente, and was called simply Ciruelos until 1964, when 'del Pinar' was added to its name. In the mid-19th century it had 79 inhabitants, according to Pascual Madoz's Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico. It preserves the parish church of Santa María Magdalena, the hermitage of San Sebastián and the Buen-Desvío house, which belonged to the duke of Medinaceli.
