Ablanque
Village
Ablanque is a municipality of the Señorío de Molina comarca, in the province of Guadalajara, included in the Alto Tajo natural park and surrounded by extensive pine forests, with 70 inhabitants. The village sits in a hollow, sheltered from the west wind by the hill called el Cejo, and through its municipal area runs the river Ablanquejo until it flows into the Tagus; nearby are Roman remains and a small artificial dam in the Fuente del Cura area. Its origin goes back to the Castilian reconquest of the 12th century, when it became part of the Común de Villa y Tierra de Medinaceli; in 1368 it was integrated into the county of Medinaceli and in 1479 into its duchy. It preserves the parish church dedicated to the Assumption of Our Lady and the hermitage of San Roque.
