What to see and do in Budia

Budia
Village
Budia is a municipality of La Alcarria, in Guadalajara, on a slope above several ravines with springs, between the Alcarria plain and the Tagus valley, dammed by the Entrepeñas and Buendía reservoirs; it has 226 inhabitants (INE 2025). Conquered by Castile at the end of the 11th century, it obtained the title of town in 1434; it belonged in seigniory to the Carrillo family and, from 1478, to the House of Mendoza, within the Duchy of the Infantado. It preserves the church of San Pedro Apóstol, rebuilt in the 16th century, with two carvings by Pedro de Mena, and four hermitages. On its páramos the tradition of migas de pastor survives, stale bread crumbled and dampened, fried slowly with garlic, oil and bacon bits until it separates into grains, today served with grapes or a fried egg at the area's gastronomic events.
