Alique
Village
Alique is a municipality in the La Alcarria comarca, in the province of Guadalajara, situated at 921 metres above sea level, with barely 15 inhabitants (INE 2025). In 1198 it was a hamlet dependent on Pareja, and the king of Castile Alfonso VIII that year granted Pareja and its hamlets, among them Alique, Chillarón, Parejuela, Hontanillas and Tabladillo, to the diocese of Cuenca. In the mid-19th century it still had 153 inhabitants, according to Pascual Madoz's Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico, a population that has since fallen drastically to the fifteen residents of today, a reflection of the depopulation experienced by much of the Alcarria over the last century.
