What to see and do in Mota del Cuervo

Mota del Cuervo
Village
Mota del Cuervo is a municipality in La Mancha Conquense, in the centre of the province of Cuenca, with 6,089 inhabitants (INE 2025), known as 'El Balcón de la Mancha'. Among its monuments stand out seven windmills on the ridge at whose foot the village sits, the oldest of which, the Zurdo mill, has stood for almost three centuries. Wheat farming has been its main economic activity, the source of the pan de la Mota, an artisan bread patented in 2021. Situated in a comarca of Manchego sheep flocks whose very fatty milk supplies the area's artisan cheese dairies, it produces pressed cheeses with a rind marked by the pleita, protected by a Designation of Origin. Its festival of Nuestra Señora de la Antigua de Manjavacas is of national tourist interest.
