What to see and do in Las Pedroñeras

Las Pedroñeras
Village
Las Pedroñeras is a municipality in the comarca of La Mancha Conquense, in the province of Cuenca, known as the Garlic Capital for the excellence of its purple garlic, a variety of cloves wrapped in violet skins protected by a Protected Geographical Indication, the locality's main export product for decades and the star of an annual fair. The village's origins predate 1400: in 1479 it rose up alongside El Pedernoso and Las Mesas in the name of the Catholic Monarchs to depend directly on the Crown. In 1998 it was visited by the then Prince Felipe, who received the Ajo de Plata, the town council's highest honour. The Záncara river, a tributary of the Gigüela, crosses the territory. It has 6,416 inhabitants (INE 2025).
