What to see and do in Cervera del Llano

Cervera del Llano
Village
Cervera del Llano is a municipality in the La Mancha Conquense district, in the province of Cuenca, in the transition between the plain of La Mancha and the Serranía, at 898 metres above sea level. At least five prehistoric sites have been found on its land, including the fortified settlements on the Gurugú hill, from the early Bronze Age, with an oval central tower surrounded by a wall, and at Recuenco, from the Middle Bronze Age, studied by the archaeologist Margarita Díaz-Andreu. Its church of San Pedro Apóstol was built in the late 12th or early 13th century in a late Romanesque style, of which the floor plan, the nave walls and the south doorway survive, though much altered afterwards in the 17th century; it was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) as a monument in 2007. It has 220 inhabitants.
