What to see and do in Torres de Berrellén

Torres de Berrellén
Village
Torres de Berrellén is a municipality in the Ribera Alta del Ebro, in Zaragoza, on the right bank of the Ebro, next to the mouth of the Jalón, at 211 metres above sea level. Its name comes from the 'torres', farmhouses that the residents of El Castellar began building on this bank in the 12th century so as not to have to cross the river daily for their farm work. The municipality is mentioned in the Diario de un Requeté by Luis Estoy y De Delás, which records the passage of the Tercio Virgen de Montserrat between 1937 and 1938. Its church, under the invocation of San Andrés Apóstol, is listed as a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection); there is, however, a discrepancy between Santa Águeda, the patron saint according to the street names, and San Andrés, the church's titular saint.
