What to see and do in Cabañas de Ebro

Cabañas de Ebro
Village
Cabañas de Ebro is a municipality in the Ribera Alta del Ebro, in the province of Zaragoza, with 473 inhabitants, situated at 219 metres above sea level on the right bank of the río Ebro, 32 kilometres from the capital. Within its boundaries lies the Cementerio de los Moros site, the castellum of a Roman villa linked to an old river port. Until the 1916 reform the municipality was simply called Cabañas. Traditionally agricultural, its economy diversified from the 1980s with new industries, among them the Opel España plant in nearby Figueruelas. It preserves a Baroque church from the late 17th century, with a single nave, side chapels and a barrel vault with lunettes, whose chancel, without an altarpiece, displays a large canvas of the miracle of San Ildefonso.

Monument
The Baroque church of Cabañas de Ebro, in the Ribera Alta del Ebro (Zaragoza), is the parish of San Ildefonso, built in the late 17th century. It has a single nave with side chapels and a barrel vault with lunettes housing small stained-glass windows. The chancel changes from a square to a polygonal plan by means of pendentives and has no altarpiece: in its place hangs a large canvas depicting the miracle of San Ildefonso, framed by painted architectural motifs among which the coat of arms of the lord of Cabañas appears.
