What to see and do in Pradilla de Ebro

Pradilla de Ebro
Village
Pradilla de Ebro is a municipality of 553 inhabitants situated on the left bank of the río Ebro, in the centre of the valley, within the comarca of Ribera Alta del Ebro and 46 kilometres from Zaragoza, at 228 metres above sea level; its floodplain was affected by the major flood of late February and March 2015, which forced the evacuation of several towns along the river's middle stretch in the comarca. In the mid-19th century it had 309 inhabitants, according to Madoz's dictionary. Its economy remains centred on irrigated farming — onion, alfalfa, tomato, maize, wheat, cauliflower and barley — although a good part of the working population also works in industry, largely at the Opel España plant. The municipal coat of arms, authorised in 1997, includes an octagonal Mudéjar tower.

The great floods of the Ebro
Historical milestone
The flood of late February and March 2015 was the largest recorded in decades in the middle stretch of the Ebro. It flooded thousands of hectares and forced the evacuation of Pradilla, Boquiñeni and Alcalá de Ebro, and gave rise to the reinforcement of the defensive embankments of the riverbank.
