Nigüella
Village
Nigüella is a small municipality in the comarca of the Comunidad de Calatayud, in the province of Zaragoza, with 58 inhabitants (INE 2025), situated between Arándiga and Mesones de Isuela. Its houses climb up the hillside and look as if they hang when seen from the Isuela river, which waters its orchards. The old Mudéjar church was demolished in the 1980s and replaced by a new stone temple with a bell tower dedicated to the Visitación de Nuestra Señora; it also preserves a hermitage dedicated to San Vicente Ferrer. Its festivities are held on the first Saturday of November, in honour of San Vicente, with a bonfire kept burning all weekend and the distribution of blessed sweet rolls, and on 10 August for San Lorenzo, with a communal supper in the square.
