Morés
Village
Morés is a small municipality in the Comunidad de Calatayud, in Zaragoza, at the foot of the sierra of the same name; the Jalón river, a tributary of the Ebro, flows through the village, and from the site known as Cantazorras there are good views of the hamlet. On its territory lies Purroy, with the hermitage of San Blas, to which a pilgrimage is made on 11 May, and the old Celtiberian settlement of Morkes. It preserves the remains of its castle, listed as a cultural asset in the category of archaeological zone. The politician and writer Faustino Sancho y Gil (1850-1896) was born in the village, a deputy to the Cortes for Tarazona and twice president of the Floral Games of Calatayud; also a son of Morés was the canon Josef Delgado y Villalba, of the 17th and 18th centuries.
