What to see and do in Cetina

Cetina
Village
Cetina is a town in the Comunidad de Calatayud comarca, in the province of Zaragoza, on the natural route linking the meseta with the Ebro valley, on the right bank of the Jalón river. It is already mentioned in the Cantar de mío Cid and was conquered by Alfonso I the Battler; in the mid-12th century it received the Charter of Cetina, and from the late 13th century its castle and walls made it a frontier fortress of the Kingdom of Aragon. In the chapel of its castle-palace, the writer Francisco de Quevedo married Esperanza de Mendoza, lady of Cetina, on 26 February 1634, a marriage that lasted barely three months. Its church of San Juan Bautista, a Baroque temple built between 1697 and 1708, preserves one of the most extensive sets of mural paintings in Aragon. It has 552 inhabitants.
