What to see and do in Maleján

Maleján
Village
Maleján is a municipality of Zaragoza, in the comarca of Campo de Borja, with 282 inhabitants (INE 2025) and a municipal territory of only 0.07 km², the smallest in Aragón. It displays in its streets an open-air olive-oil museum, with screw presses, millstones, esparto baskets and vats recovered from the comarca's old mills. It also preserves remains of the decoration of its former mosque, some towers of a vanished castle, and the parish church, whose chapel of Santa Bárbara occupies one of the turrets. Among its festivals, the Raising of El Mayo stands out, a tree that the villagers bring from the vega of the río Huecha and set up in the church square on the first day of May, to bring it down thirty days later, in addition to the festivities of San Isidro Labrador, on 15 May.
