Rubiales
Village
Rubiales is a small municipality in the Sierra de Albarracín, in the province of Teruel, situated in a sort of valley surrounded by hills, at 1,167 metres above sea level, with a municipal area of 27.42 km², in the judicial district of Teruel. According to the geographical dictionary of Pascual Madoz (1849), it then had 48 houses, a school, the parish church dedicated to la Asunción, and a cemetery, and its economy was based on growing wheat, barley and oats, together with grazing and hunting. In the mid-19th century it had 78 inhabitants, a figure that has today fallen to 43.

Parish church of Rubiales, in the Teruel comarca of the Sierra de Albarracín, dedicated to the Assumption of Our Lady. Pascual Madoz's geographical dictionary, from the mid-19th century, describes it as a parish church served by a cura de segundo ascenso (second-ascent priest) of ordinary provision, evidence of its antiquity as a religious centre of the village.
