What to see and do in Caminreal

Caminreal
Village
Caminreal is a municipality in the Jiloca comarca, in the province of Teruel, at 920 metres above sea level, which includes the hamlet of Villalba de los Morales and has around 606 inhabitants. Its name recalls its old geostrategic function as a crossroads. With the Santander-Mediterráneo railway it came to have the most modern station in Spain, with automatic track-changing. The Jiloca runs through its municipal area, with a river heritage of which the springs known as the Ojos de Caminreal stand out. It preserves the Roman-Republican city of La Caridad, whose Casa de Likine holds a pavement with an Iberian inscription from the 1st century BC; its railway station, from 1933, was the work of the architect Luis Gutiérrez Soto.
Church of Caminreal
Monument
Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, built between 1724 and 1743 in Baroque style, with a Latin-cross plan, three naves with barrel vaulting and an octagonal dome decorated with mosaics over the crossing; it preserves a Baroque altarpiece of the Assumption by the Navarro brothers (1747), an oak wooden door in Renaissance style and an altarpiece of the Cristo from 1752.
Festivities of Caminreal
Activity
Patron saint festival of Caminreal.
