Cella
Village
Cella is a town in the comarca of Comunidad de Teruel, with 2702 inhabitants and a significant agricultural tradition around the Jiloca River, which rises at the Fuente de Cella. To the north of the municipal area lies the Laguna del Cañizar, the second most important freshwater wetland in Spain, home to up to 223 bird species, including cranes and the threatened squacco heron and Eurasian bittern, as well as otters, genets and roe deer. Almost 400 of its hectares lie within the municipal area of Cella and the rest in Villarquemado; managed since 2023 by the Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro, it has trails and observation areas that make it one of the main tourist attractions of the province, near Dinópolis and Albarracín. The village stands at an altitude of 1023 metres.

Cella Spring
Nature
Historic spring of Cella, one of the most abundant in Spain, with an average flow of about 3500 litres per second, the source of the medieval irrigation system of the Vega del Jiloca and of the Jiloca river itself. This artesian well, among the largest and deepest in Europe, was built in the 12th century and was embellished between 1729 and 1731 by the engineer Domingo Ferrari by order of the Aragonese court; its elliptical pool measures 34.83 by 24.84 metres and between 9 and 11.5 metres deep. It feeds three irrigation channels that water seven municipalities and has been a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) since 1983.
Festivities of Cella
Activity
The Fiestas de Cella (Teruel), dedicated to San Clemente, are the town's main festival and are held in late August, around the 22nd-25th. Cella also keeps other traditional events: El Calvario, on 23 April, when more than 4000 residents and visitors climb the Calvario hill and the town council hands out bread, sardines, wine and juices; and the Feria de la Patata, in September, dedicated to the locality's main crop, with thousands of sandwiches and a communal meal. The town also has two patron saints: San Sebastián, on 20 January, and Santa Rosina, known as "la Meona" for the rains that usually accompany her feast, on 15 May.
