What to see and do in Santa Eulalia

Santa Eulalia
Village
Santa Eulalia, also popularly known as Santa Eulalia del Campo, is the only town in Spain whose official name is simply Santa Eulalia, among the eight that bear that name. Located in the comarca of Comunidad de Teruel, it stretches along the right bank of the Jiloca River, between the Sierra de Albarracín and the Sierra Palomera; the village stands at an altitude of 984 metres. Its origin is traditionally associated with an old town called Tres Torres, linked to the local presence of the Fernández de Heredia family, documented in the area between the 13th and 16th centuries. In 1335 the dean of the cathedral of El Salvador in Albarracín granted the lease of an estate in the town to Pedro Fernández de Heredia, whose coat of arms showed several towers on a red field. It now has 1,004 inhabitants.
Church of Santa Eulalia
Monument
Church of la Inmaculada (formerly under the dedication of Santa María), in Renaissance style, linked to the involvement of the architect Pierres Bedel around 1560; with a single nave, a semi-hexagonal apse and star ribbed vaulting. It preserves a Baroque main altarpiece with wooden images from 1722, the image of the Virgen del Molino and a camarín (shrine chamber) with tiles from 1790. It was declared a Monumento Histórico-Artístico in 1982 and a Bien de Interés Cultural in 2004.
