Santa Eulalia de Gállego
Village
Santa Eulalia de Gállego, Santolaria de Galligo in Aragonese, is a municipality with 101 inhabitants situated at 505 metres above sea level, on the banks of the río Gállego, within the natural comarca of the Galliguera. Its origins go back to the Middle Ages, with settlements of monks from the Cinco Villas, and it belonged as an inhabited centre to the town of Murillo de Gállego until its administrative separation in the nineteenth century. The locality reached its peak population in the early twentieth century, when its schools came to hold up to 80 boys and 80 girls, before the rural exodus that continued until the end of the century. It preserves hermitages such as those of San Juan de Barto, San Pedro Mártir and Santa Quiteria, and remains such as El Pontaz and the Molinaz, a former flour mill.
