What to see and do in Murillo de Gállego

Murillo de Gállego
Village
Murillo de Gállego is a municipality in the Hoya de Huesca comarca, in the province of Zaragoza, on the banks of the río Gállego and close to the Mallos de Riglos, in the natural comarca of the Galliguera, which also includes the settlements of Concilio and Morán. The first documented mention dates from 19 March 1033. It preserves the remains of an eleventh-century castle and the church of San Salvador, declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) in 1946. Among its older residents, the use of the Aragonese language remains vital. The village, today also a centre for adventure sports, has a Museo Eléctrico and celebrates its festival on 24 August, in honour of San Bartolomé. It has 194 inhabitants (INE 2025).
