What to see and do in Terrateig

Terrateig
Village
Terrateig is a municipality of La Vall d'Albaida, in Valencia, which depended as a parish annex of La Pobla del Duc until becoming an independent parish in 1534. Its relief descends from the loma de San Jaime, at 579 metres, down to the Vernisa river, and the farmland is concentrated in the north; the economy remains agricultural, with dry-farmed vines, almonds and olives and irrigated vegetables and fruit trees. The earliest remains date from the 4th century BC, with Iberian remains at the Tossal, to which Roman ones are added. It preserves the church of San Juan Bautista and the hermitage of San Vicente Ferrer, rebuilt in 1833 on the spot where, according to tradition, the saint preached beside an olive tree, as well as a ceramic altarpiece from the early 20th century. It has 290 inhabitants (INE 2025).
