Daimús
Village
Daimús is a coastal municipality of La Safor, a former Andalusi alquería linked to the Duchy of Gandia, with 3,524 inhabitants over just 3.1 km² split between the low-lying coastal and marjal land and the small rise on which the village sits. It retains a very old fishermen's quarter, Los Pedregales, near the beach, which, extending more than three kilometres, forms part of the dune system stretching between Gandia and Guardamar de la Safor. The municipal area, close to the Serpis river, suffers flooding linked to the gota fría events typical of this stretch of coast. Its church of San Pedro Apóstol dates from the 19th century and was built over an earlier 15th-century temple.
