What to see and do in Rocafort

Rocafort
Village
Rocafort is a municipality in the comarca of L'Horta Nord, in the province of Valencia, with 7,751 inhabitants, situated at an altitude of 35 m on a small rocky promontory from which it takes its name, already documented in 1415 in the Document del Morabetí. The only archaeological remains are a multiple Eneolithic burial found in the cave of Rocafort; the present-day settlement is believed to postdate the conquest of James I, and its lordship later passed through several families, among them the Mercader family and the barons of Santa Bárbara. Its main monument is the parish church of San Sebastián Mártir, from the second half of the 17th century, enlarged in the early 20th, with a bell tower that stands out over the old town.
