What to see and do in Godella

Godella
Village
Godella is a municipality in the comarca of Horta Nord, located northwest of the city of Valencia, on the plain of the huerta that rises toward limestone hills up to 120 metres high. It has about 13,500 inhabitants and includes the neighbourhood of Campo Olivar, on the lands where the barons of the same name had their summer residence. It preserves Eneolithic remains at La Covatella, with a collective burial beneath a Roman stratum. It was an Arab hamlet called Godayla until James I granted it to the Aragonese nobility in 1238, among them the mesnadero (retainer) Pere Maça, whose surname appears on the municipality's coat of arms. Its Church of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle, opened in 1754, preserves a Christ figure by the sculptor Ignacio Pinazo.
