What to see and do in Beniardà

Beniardà
Village
Beniardà is one of the smallest municipalities in the comarca of La Marina Baixa, in the interior of the province of Alicante, located in the Guadalest valley, next to the reservoir and at the foot of the Sierra de Aitana. A former Muslim hamlet attached to the lordship of Guadalest, it obtained its own parish in 1612 and became independent in 1637. It preserves the Font de la Mesquita, at the site where it is believed the second-largest mosque in al-Andalus once stood, and a 16th-century church dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, with a bell tower with a green-tiled dome. It has 226 inhabitants who live off dry-farming and, increasingly, rural tourism.

Monument
