What to see and do in Tormos

Tormos
Village
Tormos is one of the smallest municipalities in the comarca of La Marina Alta, in the province of Alicante, with 323 inhabitants according to the 2025 register, situated at the foot of Mount Recingles, in the Sierra del Mediodía and near the Girona river; from its upper reaches the Mediterranean and the Montgó can be seen. The village's name is first documented in 1276, and in 1290 it appears described as a Muslim alquería granted for life to Jaume de Linars. Its economy, traditionally agricultural, includes a deep-rooted winemaking tradition of red wines and muscat. It retains the parish church, built in the second half of the 18th century in neoclassical style and notable for its bell-gable in place of a bell tower, with a main altarpiece to San Luis Beltrán and another, side one, to the Mare de Déu del Rosari.
