What to see and do in Anchuelo

Anchuelo
Village
Anchuelo is a village of the Community of Madrid, set in a valley between two hills north of the río Henares, of possible Roman origin. After the Christian reconquest it depended on the archbishopric of Toledo, within the Community of town and land of Alcalá, from which it became independent in the 16th century. It preserves the church of Santa María Magdalena, from the 15th century, with an 18th-century altarpiece, as well as the hermitages of the Virgen de la Oliva, San Isidro and San Cristóbal, the Cementerio Moro and the Fuente de la Cuesta. It is connected to Alcalá de Henares by bus line. Its festivities honour San Pedro Mártir. It has about 1,400 inhabitants.
