What to see and do in Masdenverge

Masdenverge
Village
Masdenverge is a municipality in the Montsià county, in the province of Tarragona, situated between Amposta and Santa Bàrbara, alongside the course of the Galera ravine. The village was formed in the mid-18th century by farmers from Tortosa, and its name derives from “mas del senyor Verge”, which was written Mas d'en Verge until the early 20th century. It was part of the municipality of La Galera until it became independent around 1857. In 1860 it reached its peak population of 1,080 inhabitants, followed by a sharp demographic decline that lasted until the end of the 19th century. Its economy is based on growing carob trees, vines and olive trees, and its main festival, in early August, includes a curious rabbit race.
