Duesaigües
Village
Duesaigües, or Dosaiguas, is a municipality in the Baix Camp, in Tarragona, with 217 inhabitants (INE 2025) and a density of 17.2 inhabitants/km². It was part of the possessions of the monastery of Sant Miquel d'Escornalbou, and in 1345 obtained permission to build its own church, documented from the 14th century, since before that residents had to travel to Argentera. In 1462, Archbishop Pere de Urrea met here with the Count of Prades to recruit volunteers during the War of the Remences, and in 1810 the village was plundered by Napoleonic troops. It lives on dry-farming agriculture, dominated by hazelnut, and has had an agricultural cooperative since 1955. Its parish church, dedicated to Saint Mary, was built in 1752 and was blessed, after a renovation, on 26 September 1753. Two bridges date from 1893; the viaducte dels Masos is Catalan industrial heritage.
