What to see and do in Alió

Alió
Village
Alió is a small rural municipality in Alt Camp, in the province of Tarragona, located on the Valls plain, next to the ravines of La Coma and Fonollera de Cabra, with remains of a medieval wall and 496 inhabitants who live from rain-fed farming and poultry raising. The place, built on an old Roman villa, was granted for settlement in 1171 by the Archbishop of Tarragona; its castle later passed to the Counts of Peralada. The old quarter is arranged around the square where the parish church of Sant Bartomeu stands, a neoclassical Baroque building blessed in 1769. The Cooperativa Agrícola, founded in 1909, preserves a wine cellar extended in 1917 by the architect Cèsar Martinell.
Remains of the Walls of the Town of Alió
Monument
The remains of the medieval walls of Alió, in the comarca of Alt Camp (Tarragona), form part of the village's medieval urban core and are declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest. The walled enclosure left its mark on the street layout: the present carrer de la Muralla recalls the route the old fortification once followed.
Alió Main Festival

It is held in honour of the patron of the parish church of Sant Bartomeu, a notable neoclassical Baroque building blessed in 1769.
