What to see and do in Lladorre

Lladorre
Village
Lladorre is a municipality of the Pallars Sobirà district, in Lleida province, located in the Vall de Cardós, at the northern end, next to the French border, with the boundary castle (castell termenat) of Lladorre and an economy based on agriculture, livestock farming and forestry, as well as a hydroelectric power station. The municipality, which until the incorporation of Tavascan in 1847 was itself named Tavascan, its most populous settlement, also includes the villages of Aineto, Boldís Jussà, Boldís Sobirà and Lleret. It preserves the Romanesque churches of San Román, in Aineto, and San Pedro, in Boldís Jussà. It has 246 inhabitants.
Castle of Lladorre
Monument
Castle with a slightly oval plan (about 40 m long by 15-19 m wide), built of slate stone bonded with mud, with arrow slits and interior walls; the municipality of Lladorre is documented since 1146. It preserves walls up to 5 m high in places, though the northwest corner and part of the south wall have collapsed. It belonged to the counts of Pallars until the 15th century, passed to the crown in 1281 after noble revolts, and after the 1491 conquest to the Cardona family and later to the dukes of Medinaceli; today it is privately owned by the Blasi family.
Lladorre Main Festival
Activity

Food and drink
Pyrenean preparation that consists of macerating remains of cheese with brandy inside an earthenware container until an unctuous and very intense paste is obtained. It is eaten on bread and was a way of making use of dried-out cheese.
