What to see and do in Foradada

Foradada
Village
Foradada is a municipality of the Catalan comarca of the Noguera, in the province of Lleida, formed by five urban settlements: Foradada itself, the capital, together with Montsonís, Marcovau, Rubió de Dalt and Rubió del Mig, plus the depopulated hamlet of Rubió de Baix. Within its boundaries also lies the monastery of Salgar, in a gorge of the Segre river near Montsonís. The place name recalls a pierced rock next to the village. Its castle, under the lordship of the marquisate of Camarasa, is already documented in 1053 and 1067, and there is also record since 1018 of the castle of Rubió, today in ruins together with the chapel dedicated to San Eudaldo. With 193 inhabitants, it lives from the cultivation of cereals, almond trees, olive trees and irrigated potatoes, and has a poultry farm.
