Palau de Santa Eulàlia
Village
Palau de Santa Eulàlia is a municipality in the Alt Empordà, on the western plain of the comarca, on the left bank of the Fluvià river, which forms the boundary with Sant Mori, with about 124 inhabitants. It used to be called Palau Sardiaca, because of the control exercised over the castle by the archdeacons of the diocese of Gerona and, from the 14th century, those of Besalú; the palace was abandoned during the 15th-century Catalan civil war and is today preserved as a ruin. The largest population centre is concentrated in Santa Eulàlia, with stone houses and cobbled streets from the 16th and 18th centuries around the parish church of Santa Eulàlia, in late 13th-century Romanesque style, which preserves a notable Romanesque baptismal font.
