Gualba
Village
Gualba is a mountain municipality in the Vallès Oriental comarca, on the northern slope of the Montseny, with 1,766 inhabitants spread across several settlements, the main one being Gualba de Dalt. It is already mentioned in 1053 as Aqua Alba, and in 1083 it became part of the possessions of the monastery of Sant Cugat. Its parish church, dedicated to San Vicente, was consecrated in 1099 and still preserves its Romanesque apse and façade, to which Gothic chapels and the bell tower were added in the 15th century; it also holds a 16th-century altarpiece with scenes from the saint's life. It traditionally lived off the farming of cereals, potatoes and pulses, and today also off tourism, favoured by its proximity to the Montseny.
