What to see and do in Dosrius

Dosrius
Village
Dosrius is an inland municipality of the Maresme comarca, in the province of Barcelona, at the head of the Argentona stream, on the foothills of the Corredor mountain range, with its termenat castle, one of the oldest in Catalonia. The place name is documented in 963 as Duos Rios, and there is archaeological evidence of Palaeolithic, Iberian and Roman presence in the municipality, which includes the settlement of Canyamars. In the second half of the 18th century, exploitation of the aquifers began, which from 1867 carried water to Barcelona through 22 viaducts and 47 tunnels. It preserves the Gothic church of Sant Andreu del Far, with the tombs of the counts of Bell-Lloc, and the sanctuary of El Corredor, Catalan Gothic from the 16th century, at 632 m altitude. It has 6,287 inhabitants (INE 2025).
Castle of Dosrius
Monument
Dosrius Castle stands in ruins atop a 246-metre hill, north of the town of Dosrius, in the Barcelona district of the Maresme. It is documented from 1114, contemporary with other fortresses in the area such as Burriac Castle, and until the first half of the 15th century it belonged to the priory of San Pedro de Caserras. Throughout its history it has had three owning lineages: the Dosrius family, between the 12th and 13th centuries; the Castellà family, between the 13th and 15th centuries; and the Sentmenat family, from the 15th century to the present day, the latter being its current owners. Today only its remains survive at the top of the hill, testimony to the strategic importance this Maresme enclave held during the Middle Ages.
Montnegre i el Corredor Natural Park
Nature
Montnegre i el Corredor Park is a protected natural area of about 15,000 hectares between the Maresme and Vallès Oriental comarcas, in the province of Barcelona, with cork-oak woods and forests of great diversity, managed by the Barcelona Provincial Council. Located in the Catalan Litoral mountain range, the Vallgorguina and Arenys streams separate the Corredor and Montnegre massifs, whose highest points are the Corredor sanctuary, at 633 metres, and the Turó Gros, at 760. The granite substrate, crossed by vein rocks, breaks down through erosion, producing the characteristic sauló (granitic sand) and formations of large stone boulders, in a Mediterranean climate with appreciable summer rainfall and occasional cold spells.
