La Nou de Berguedà
Village
La Nou de Berguedà is a small municipality of 163 inhabitants (2025) at 876 metres above sea level, on the left bank of the river Llobregat and near the Baells reservoir, in the Berguedà. Its place name appears documented as Noce in 948, and in 1003 part of its lands passed to the monastery of Ripoll. The church of Sant Martí, consecrated in 1195 by Bishop Bernat of la Seu d'Urgell, is Romanesque, with a single nave with a pointed vault, three apses and a 17th-century bell tower; the rectory preserves three reliquaries from the high altar. The village also has the Romanesque church of Sant Sadurní de Malanyeu and the neoclassical sanctuary of Lourdes, from 1880, beneath the summit of Sobrepuny. It lives from potatoes, wheat and cattle farming, and celebrates its local festival in November, for San Martín.
Church of la Nou de Berguedà
Monument
The parish church of the settlement of la Nou de Berguedà, in the Berguedà, dedicated to Sant Martí. Of Romanesque structure, with a single nave covered by a slightly pointed stone vault and a central apse flanked by two side apsidioles arranged in a Latin cross, it was consecrated on 19 February 1195 by the bishop of Urgell; it is already mentioned in the act of consecration of the cathedral of Urgell of the year 839. The doorway has three round arches in degradation, and in the 17th century a square tower belfry and two side chapels were added. In the apse a Baroque altarpiece of Sant Martí is preserved, from the 17th-18th centuries. The temple was restored between 1967 and 1972.
