What to see and do in Santpedor

Santpedor
Village
Santpedor is a municipality in the Bages, in the province of Barcelona, north of Manresa, in the flattest part of the comarca; the river d'Or runs through the town and gave rise to its name, an evolution of Sant Pere d'Or. It preserves a medieval vila closa, with its walled enclosure and historic gate well preserved. It has 7744 inhabitants, split between Sampedor and the Mirador de Montserrat, and lives mainly on cereal and rapeseed farming, alongside a developing industrial area, especially metalworking. In the south of the municipality, work is under way to restore the Aiguamoll de la Bòbila wetland. The main festival is held in the second week of June.

Monument
The medieval precinct of Santpedor, in the Bages, is the vila closa that gives the municipality's old quarter its medieval character; some gateways of the old walled precinct are still preserved. The settlement's origin is ancient: the place, known as lloc d'Or, is already documented in the year 937, its parish church of Sant Pere, of Romanesque origin, is documented from 996, and the castle of Or is mentioned in a papal bull of the year 978.
