Mojados
Village
Mojados is a town in the Tierra de Pinares district, in the province of Valladolid, 26 kilometres from the capital, with about 3,400 inhabitants settled at 718 metres above sea level beside the lower course of the River Cega. Here, on 12 November 1517, the future Charles V met his brother Ferdinand, an episode the town re-enacts every year in early July with a well-attended Renaissance festival. The River Cega is crossed by a six-arch stone bridge built in 1575 by Juan de Nates under the rule of Philip II. Mojados preserves two Mudéjar temples of brick and masonry, the churches of San Juan Bautista and Santa María de la Asunción, as well as the manor house of the Count of la Patilla and two hermitages.
