Manzanillo
Village
Manzanillo is a hamlet of 48 inhabitants in Valladolid province, in the comarca of Campo de Peñafiel, with views of Peñafiel castle, six kilometres away. Its economy is based on grain and on vineyards covered by the Ribera del Duero designation of origin. The Gothic church of San Justo y Pastor, in stone, from the 13th and 14th centuries, is covered by a star-ribbed vault and holds a Santo Entierro painted by the so-called Master of Manzanillo and a main altarpiece of Santa Lucía, from the 17th century, the work of the Palencia sculptor Lucas Sanz de la Torrecilla. The village celebrates San Isidro on 15 May, its patrons San Justo y Pastor on 9 August and San Roque on the 16th.
