Recuerda
Village
Recuerda is a municipality in Soria of 61 inhabitants at 1,082 metres above sea level, which brings together the hamlets of Galapagares, La Perera, Mosarejos and Nograles — incorporated between the mid-19th century and 1970 — amid dense forests of juniper and savin. It belonged after the Reconquest to the alfoz of Gormaz, whose history it shared until the abolition of the lordships in the 19th century; on its territory several Celtiberian necropolises have been found, and it even had a hospital for pilgrims. The Camino del Cid and the GR-86 hiking route now pass through here. Its 16th-century church of San Bernabé has a Gothic chancel and a Baroque body, with a 17th-century Renaissance main altarpiece and reliquary by Gabriel de Pinedo.
