What to see and do in Villar del Campo

Villar del Campo
Village
Villar del Campo is a hamlet in the province of Soria, in the comarca of Frentes, 29 kilometres from the capital, with 29 inhabitants in an area of 25.29 km² that includes, besides the town of the same name, the hamlet of Castellanos del Campo, incorporated in the mid-19th century. It lies between the sierra del Madero, which reaches 1,411 metres, and the plain watered by the río Rituerto, with the village at 1,029 metres of altitude; part of its territory is protected for its holm-oak and quejigo-oak woods. The Camino de Santiago Castellano-Aragonés passes through here. The railway used to cross its territory, and at its station David Lean filmed scenes for the film Doctor Zhivago, using artificial snow because it had not snowed that year when the filming was due.
