What to see and do in Arancón

Arancón
Village
Arancón is a municipality in the province of Soria that groups together six villages: Arancón itself, Calderuela, Cortos, Nieva de Calderuela, Omeñaca and Tozalmoro, the last two incorporated in the mid-19th century and in 1972 respectively. The territory combines the sierra del Almuerzo to the north, with the monte de Cencejo in the centre, and a flatter area to the southeast, watered by the río Chavalindo; through it runs the old Roman road of the vía 27 de Antonino, laid out in the 1st century BC between Caesaraugusta and Astorga on account of the Cantabrian Wars. It lives off cereal and sunflower crops, sheep farming and a big-game hunting reserve. With 73 inhabitants, it celebrates the feast of the Virgen de las Aguas Cálidas on the first Sunday of June, and in August those of the Asunción and San Bartolomé.

Monument
The parish church, Romanesque in origin and altered in the eighteenth century, and the medieval fountain called de la Rana are the two landmarks of the built-up area of a municipality situated at the foot of the Sierra del Almuerzo.
