What to see and do in Añover de Tormes

Añover de Tormes
Village
Añover de Tormes is a municipality of around 84 inhabitants, made up of its own settlement and that of Palacinos, in the Tierra de Ledesma. It was repopulated, like the rest of the comarca, after the reconquest of Ledesma, Juzbado, Guadramiro and Salamanca by Ramiro II of León in the 10th century. On 18 November 1609 Philip III created here the county of Añover de Tormes, whose first holder was Juan Niño de Guevara, commander of Mohernando in the Order of Calatrava and brother of the inquisitor general Fernando Niño. With the creation of the provinces in 1833 it was placed within Salamanca, in the Región Leonesa. The municipality lacks regular public transport; the SA-CV-131 road links it with Torresmenudas and, via Forfoleda, with the Ruta de la Plata.
