What to see and do in Cabrerizos

Cabrerizos
Village
Cabrerizos, with about 4218 inhabitants, is a municipality in the comarca of La Armuña, province of Salamanca, which groups together settlements such as La Flecha, La Carcesa and Aldehuela de los Guzmanes, situated on the banks of the river Tormes, next to the capital, and somewhat elevated to avoid the floods it used to suffer in the past. It appears documented as Cabrarizos in the 13th century, and its territory included the deserted hamlet of Ribas, already resettled by Ramiro II of León in the 10th century. Between 1996 and 2006 it experienced a population growth of 128.8%, the fifth highest in the province, favoured by its proximity to the city of Salamanca. It has a cultural centre with a municipal library and sports schools for athletics, table tennis and judo.
The orchard of La Flecha
Curiosity
The settlement of La Flecha, today part of the municipality, stretches along the banks of the Tormes at the spot that literary tradition links to the retreat of Fray Luis de León, where the Augustinians of Salamanca had an estate and a garden.

Historical milestone
Before Cabrerizos existed, Ramiro II of León (931-951) resettled in the 10th century the place of Ribas, today a deserted site within the municipality. The present village is documented in the 13th century as Cabrarizos, within the quarter of Villoria.
