Villanuño de Valdavia
Village
Villanuño de Valdavia is a village in the comarca of Vega-Valdavia, in the province of Palencia, situated on the left bank of the river Valdavia, beside the provincial road P236. It has about ninety inhabitants, against the 114 recorded in the mid-19th century, and includes the hamlet of Arenillas de Nuño Pérez. Both settlements owe their name to Nuño Pérez de Lara, a tenant of the powerful Castilian noble Lara family, who had a manor house in Arenillas and arniellas beehives from which the hamlet took its name. It preserves a Romanesque church.
