What to see and do in Fuentes de Carbajal

Fuentes de Carbajal
Village
Fuentes de Carbajal is a municipality in the Esla-Campos district, in the province of León, on the Valdeladehesa stream, a tributary that eventually flows into the Esla via the Porma; it has about 71 inhabitants. The village is arranged around the Plaza de la Constitución, where the town hall stands; it preserves the old fuentina, and the teleclub remains the residents' social meeting place. On 15 May San Isidro Labrador is carried in procession with the cross and the banner while the bells are rung in full peal, and on the last weekend of July the Cofradía del Sagrado Corazón repeats the procession and bell-ringing. The Cofradía de las Sagradas Ánimas del Purgatorio, whose statutes date from 1815, organises a feast of the dead with the handing out of chestnuts, sweets and liqueurs.
