What to see and do in San Justo de la Vega

San Justo de la Vega
Village
San Justo de la Vega is a León municipality of around 1,750 inhabitants, situated in the floodplain of the río Tuerto, which separates it from the city of Astorga and marks the last stage of the Camino Francés before reaching it. Its origin probably goes back to Visigothic times, between the 6th and 8th centuries, on the route of a Roman road that set out from the ancient Asturica Augusta, and it later grew thanks to its closeness to the Maragato city. The economy rests on farming in the floodplain and on services linked to the continuous passage of pilgrims, and among its celebrations Holy Week and the festivities in honour of Santo Toribio stand out. It preserves the church of the Santos Justo y Pastor, from the 16th century.
