Magaz de Cepeda
Village
Magaz de Cepeda is a municipality in the comarca of La Cepeda, in the province of León, at 895 metres of altitude, with 345 inhabitants spread across six villages: Benamarías, Magaz de Cepeda, Porqueros, Vanidodes, Vega de Magaz and Zacos. Until the 1916 reform of municipal names, it was called simply Magaz, a name to which de Cepeda was then added. It has two railway stations, at Porqueros and at Vega de Magaz, where Media Distancia trains stop; at the latter, Larga Distancia Alvia trains towards Madrid and Galicia also stop. Its church is the iglesia de San Martín.
Magaz Valley and the San Julián slope
Nature
The village sits in a valley dominated by the slope of San Julián and by a hill rising to the east, with a cold, damp climate, just as Madoz's dictionary described it. It is typical landscape of the low hills of La Cepeda.
