What to see and do in Villaobispo de Otero

Villaobispo de Otero
Village
Villaobispo de Otero is a municipality in the comarca of La Cepeda, in the province of León, with around 515 inhabitants, situated at 868 metres of altitude to the north of Astorga, with which it shares a border, at the southern edge of the comarca. It brings together six villages: Brimeda, Carneros, La Carrera, Otero de Escarpizo, Sopeña de Carneros and Villaobispo de Otero itself, the municipal seat. In the mid-19th century it had barely 143 inhabitants, and Pascual Madoz noted at the time harvests of rye, flax, a little wheat and potatoes.
Floodplain of the Tuerto River
Nature
An alluvial plain on the left bank of the Tuerto, light soil of rye, flax and potatoes as Madoz described it in the mid-19th century. Its meadows and poplar groves are still the dominant feature of the municipality's landscape.
