Valles de Palenzuela
Village
Valles de Palenzuela is a municipality of 74 inhabitants in the Odra-Pisuerga district, province of Burgos, with a territory of about twenty-one square kilometres of farmland. Until 1833 it did not depend on Burgos, but on the district of Palenzuela, within the Intendancy of Valladolid, under seigneurial jurisdiction and an ordinary mayor, as recorded in the 1787 Censo de Floridablanca. By the mid-19th century it had grown to 356 inhabitants, almost five times as many as today. In the village stands the parish church of San Esteban Protomártir, part of the archpriestship of Amaya, which also includes the town of Villodrigo.
